Animal Yards were popular in gardens of 18th Century Europe. Some rare animals were kept here, some roaming free and some in cages. The Dovecot (centre top) contained a rare species of dove. Sable cages and bird avaries, a hedgehog, black stork, eagle and crane were all kept here in the 1700s.
